JDRF Gala Pittsburgh – 25th Anniversary
The David L. Lawrence Convention Center Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom, was the place to be for the 25 anniversary of the JDRF Gala.
Cocktails were served starting at 6pm then Dinner at 7pm (including a live auction) followed by entertainment by The Elite Show Band.
“The Night You Help Turn Type One Into Type None,”
The 25th anniversary of the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Promise Black Tie Gala was nothing short of spectacular!
Honorees were recognized once again. Among those in attendance were Dr. Stanley Marks (with Nikol), Maureen Barunas, Ed Beachler (with Lois Wholey), David Burstin (with Barbara), Bill Caroselli (with Dusty Kirk), Craig Coleman (with his daughter Libby) and Anne German representing the late Rob German. The honorees socialized with 800 guests — the largest gala to date — during the Champagne reception. A long silver train worn by Las Vegas model Chanel Thorley was the living red carpet on which guests entered the party. The fantastic silent auction had everyone buzzing before the ballroom doors opened. There were Twinkle Trees, which decorated the room, and added that extra bit of glitz to the party.
Gala co-chair Dr. Nancy Glynn said “This event is about acknowledging where we have been and where we are going to keep our promise to find a cure”. The live auction and the Fund A Cure drive chaired by Nan DeTurk (with Steve) helped raise $1.6 million.
The Elite Show Band was honored to be a part of such a worthy cause and celebrate 25 years strong with the JDRF Pittsburgh Foundation. The band came ready to party with a 13 piece power band which included 7 lead vocalists and two professional dancers. The jubilant crowed danced to songs from artists such as Stevei Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Bruno Mars, and even a little Frank Sinatra.
