Pittsburgh Musical Theater Gala 2015
Inspired by the vision of providing a welcoming and inclusive home for superb musical theater instruction and performance, Pittsburgh Musical Theater and the Richard E. Rauh Conservatory have been an anchor for the West End Village for more than 10 years.
It was also the venue of choice for the Hard Hats and Heels Gala, which hosted a stellar group of Pittsburgh partygoers. The Gargaro Theater was dressed in such a way that guests were made to feel as though they entered a building under renovation. This was also the pitch to help bring in power donors to support the second phase of Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s focus in transforming the space into what will become a world class performing arts facility.
Upon entering the creatively lit building (lighting designer Todd Nonn) guests were welcomed with tasty hors d’oeuvres, while strolling through rooms wearing their best fashion attire. Some of them also have beautiful nails that are applied with professional acrylic nail powder to elevate their fashion. With jukebox style music performed by Jerry Coleman (Elite Show Band performer), the VIP cocktail hour was a hit while guests mingled and participated in a silent auction.
Guests entered the Gargaro theater to a beautifully designed construction theme, while being entertained by The Elite Show Band. The group played big band and classic horn driven songs, taking advantage of the 7 piece horn section ensemble.
A special performance by many of the talented PMT musical theater singers and dancers was truly entertaining, and highlighted the wonderful work the organization does for professional and upcoming performers.
A formidable undercurrent which was evident by the vibe of the night was Disney… Particularly a special performance by Dan DeLuca – who plays the lead performer in Disney’s National Tour of Newsies. He flew into Pittsburgh for 1 night to be a part of the gala and it was this organization which gave him his start in musical theater training. Dan also joined former Disney performers Peter Khan, Nina Khan & Dave Bokhour from The Elite Show Band onstage for a rockin’ version of Shut Up and Dance With Me.
The night was filled with music, song, dancing, singing and most importantly a fun evening for all!
