Oakmont Country Club Wedding
Introduced in 1903 by designer Henry Fownes, Oakmont Country Club has hosted more combined USGA and PGA championships than any other course in the U.S., including eight United States Opens, five U.S. Amateurs, three PGA Championships, and two U.S. Women’s Opens.
Oakmont remains perhaps the most difficult course in North America, with 210 deep bunkers (personified by the Church Pews), hard and slick greens that slope away from the player, and tight fairways requiring the utmost precision. Oakmont was the site of “the greatest round of the 20th century”: Johnny Miller’s final round 63 at the 1973 U.S. Open. Golf Digest ranks Oakmont #5 in its most recent version of America’s Top 100 courses.
This historic venue was the perfect location for Meghan and Ryan’s lovely reception. The ceremony took place right off of the lush green golf course, with views that would make any bride swoon! The weather was absolutely perfect- The ceremony music was provided by the Elite Show Band solo pianist and included song choices such as Marry Me, A Thousand Years, and All of Me.
Next, the guests made their way inside and enjoyed cocktails throughout the Club’s luxurious rooms and terrace areas. Entering the ballroom the guests were greeted by beautiful yellow and white fragrant floral arrangements and a wall of windows showcasing the expansive golf course. The reception kicked off with a bang with the Elite Show Band 7 Piece Band Configuration. The Grand Entrance song was Shake Your Body Down by Michael Jackson, starting with the Parents of the Bride and Groom entering together as a group wearing football jersey’s in support of the other family’s team! What a great idea! Meghan and Ryan entered to Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars and went straight into their first dance You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne.
The evening was filled with fun and celebration, including an Anniversary Dance with a couple who had been married for 55 Years! Truly an amazing example of what true love is. Also, the Father of the Bride gave one of the best speeches we have heard- very touching and it warmed everyone’s heart. The Father/Daughter Dance which was My Girl by the Temptations. The couple joined the band onstage for the final song and everyone could see their love for each other. I think it’s safe to say that Meghan and Ryan are a match made in heaven! Another fantastic Oakmont Country Club Wedding.
Review from bride and groom
The Elite Showband played at our wedding on 8/29 at Oakmont Country Club. They are beyond talented and know how to get the dance floor full and keep it full for the entire event. Peter and Nina are very professional and really know what they are doing. Everyone keeps talking about how amazing our band was. I’ve seen a few bands in the Pittsburgh region and I can confidently say the Elite Showband is the best band in Pittsburgh.
